"There is so much sincerity and obsession in the work of Gaëtane that you become less skeptical while reveling in the powerful emotions it elicits. "
– Maeverey, friend and writer
An alliance of hearts, a bounce of light, a wave of emotions. Each painting is a journey in itself. This journey begins even before the brush touches the canvas and continues with each gaze the painting receives.
Everything is there for the accomplishment of the work which is constantly renewing itself in the beauty of a universe as prolix as it is hospitable. Paintings, sculptures, jewelry, books and annexes and to top it all off an igloo in the jungle!
Words and paintings, I savor them in Gaëtane's notebooks. Poetics of color and logos. Dancing alliance of lines and curves. Arcane freedom. Breath of the Tao. Through the nostrils of the horses and the wing of the bird: the birth of a joyful and puzzling cosmogony.
This is not a Prévert-style inventory. It is the inspiration of a talent sometimes titan, sometimes a lace maker or a goldsmith, a Shiva with a thousand arms juggling with Breath and matter. A small genius of the poetry of canvases and miniatures, the artist fades away, rubs shoulders with the Subtle and heals.
When I was 7, sitting on a large rectangular stone in his studio, I "worked" with my father, Paul Butti.
I painted, like him, abstract works.
All my life I have painted.
I liked the movement, the wind in the trees, the sea with the waves, the galloping horses.
When my father died in 2003, I returned to the abstract, thus maintaining this mysterious contact.
Strolling in alfalfa,
rode, wander, create, spread
small family !
The horizon dotted with seeds,
feeds our lost avatars.
In these clay loops,
Shaping the Future
remains a mystery
and I sing this moment,
the great deliquescence
from Cézanne to Matisse
and those strange ways of hands
Twisted
and those creative hands.
Fly ! Today
it's tomorrow.
